27-year-old Deborah won the female 18-30 category before emerging as the Overall Ladies Winner. When presented with her £5000 cheque by Cindy Crawford at the Body-for-LIFE Awards earlier this month, delighted Deborah was 'speechless'.
Her achievement marked a change in her lifestyle, not just her body.
Deborah used to be fit as a Highland Dancer but slipped into bad habits. 'I had competed at championship level as a dancer and even worked in a gym. Then I started my job as a research scientist and the gym subsided.'
Deborah began living on chocolate, takeaways and convenience meals. She had her 'before' photographs taken and was horrified. 'I hadn't realised I'd really piled on the weight. But it didn't take long to lose fat. Within three to four weeks my abdominals were becoming more defined and my waist had come in.'
With the help of the EAS and Body-for-LIFE nutritional products, Deborah felt her energy levels soar. 'I used the Myoplex Diet Shakes and the Body-for-LIFE Diet bars, trying a variety of flavours,' she says.
Deborah lost a total of 14lbs and her body fat dropped from 30% to 24%. Thanks to her new figure, she has developed more confidence. 'It's not just about losing weight. It's a mental attitude.'
