What were your
reasons for deciding to accept
the Body-for-LIFE Challenge?
Accepting the Challenge together was perceived as an opportunity to strengthen our Father-Son relationship while improving our overall health and appearance. We are both competitive by nature, and felt that the Challenge would provide an ideal venue for success through hard work and dedication. By working together, we could reinforce our effort and gain the mutual satisfaction of working toward and achieving a common goal.
What inspired
you to stay on course throughout the 12-week Challenge?
The desire to hold up our respective "end of the bargain" served as a strong motivational factor. By feeding off the results of each other, we felt compelled to push our diet and exercise effort beyond what we would have done individually. As we began to see improvement in our weekly measurements, we were further inspired to stay on track and not lose sight of our Challenge goals.
What obstacles
did you have to overcome – what adversity did you transform
into positive energy – in order to complete the 12-week
Challenge?
Irregular and long work hours, occasional travel, and resisting social temptations proved to be the most difficult obstacles toward maintaining balanced diet and regular workouts. However, as we were committed to the Challenge, we did what we had to do to get it done. Often this involved extending normal waking hours to work out. Ultimately, this sacrifice became a badge of courage that was symbolic of our resolve.
Please describe your physical improvements in terms of how
you measured them.
Our progress was measured by weekly weigh-ins and 7- point caliper body-fat measurements. Steve lost 58 pounds and reduced his body-fat from 24.5% to 8%. His pant size went from a 42 to a 36. When he started the Challenge, he was unable to jog one mile. After completing the Challenge, he could sustain an 8 minute mile pace for one hour. Matt gained 16.5 pounds of lean muscle mass while reducing his body-fat from 10% to 4.5%. When he started the Challenge, he could complete 15 pull-ups. After completing the Challenge, he was able to perform 25 pull-ups.

EAS supplements did you use, and how much did they help you?
Would you recommend those supplements to others to help them
achieve the results you have?
Myoplex® was our main supplement, each using it 2-3 times daily. In addition to Myoplex®, we used PhosphagenT HP and Myoplex® protein bars. We emphatically endorse these products, and have recommended EAS products, especially Myoplex®, to others who have asked us how we achieved our results. We believe that these products were a significant factor to our success, and we intend to continue using these products to maintain, and hopefully improve upon our current level of fitness.
How was
your life transformed by improving your physical condition –
by deciding to accept the Challenge and sticking with it from
start to finish?
Completing the Challenge has strengthened our respect for each other, providing a solid basis for an adult father-son relationship. It has also improved our health and appearance; plus, it has renewed our vitality. With our increased energy levels, we approach daily challenges with the confidence that only comes from knowing what you can do if you truly apply yourself. This newfound self-assurance has enriched every aspect of our lives, providing personal benefits beyond any that we imagined. What started our as a father-son bonding program and short term solution to our poor physical condition has evolved into a life-altering experience.
